Cameron, Mizin, Cannon and myself hiked the Welch-Dickey Trail Loop (4.4 mi.) on the first day of Spring (March 20th). The trip took us 4 hours and 2 attempts. At first we couldn’t figure out how to cross a river, and decided to walk around it. That landed Cameron is some pretty thick mud. Good thing I brought extra sneakers, 10 min. back to the truck and he was good as new. Attempt #2 as we deemed it worked out great. We figured out to cross the river, and marched on. Conversations varied from what kind of Pokemon’s live in the forest, to how crazy it would be if there was a Burger King at the top of the mountain. I’m not gonna say this was an easy hike, but for two 10 year olds, I’d say the kids did great. Since the mountains were thawing out from a snowy winter the rock faces were very wet (aka slippery), and there was lots of snow down the backside of Mt. Dickey, and lots of it, we walked on snow for 1/4 of that mountain. At times we made trains and got ourselves down the mountain with no damage! Cannon did terrific for his first hike as well and there was only one place I had to lift his fat ass up, and that was over the initial water crossing. Me, I just enjoyed being out there, and can’t wait to do it again!

3.4 miles round trip, and the temperature was a solid 30 degrees! Easily the best snowshoeing day of my life. We had a blast!

Cannon made me take him snowshoeing yesterday, and then stopped to take a photo.

Here our baby has transformed from a dot to a gummy bear, and now to a tiny human. As you can see, the baby already has Steph’s nose!

Meet Cannon, our newest addition. He is a male Australian Shepherd and was born on 7/7/09. So far he is a great puppy, and has no problem walking off leash. He is also getting pretty good at playing fetch. Now if only Saydee doesn’t think he’s her latest/expensive chew toy. Wish us luck!

Today I decided to do something different, I decided to actually bake dog biscuits for Saydee (our Husky Hybrid – very low carbon foot print).
Here is a list of ingredients:
3.5 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour
1 Cup of Cornmeal
.25 Cup Pancake Mix
1 Tablespoon of Honey
1 Tablespoon of Maple Syrup
1.25 Cups of Beef Broth
.75 Cups of Peanut Butter – unless your dog has a peanut allergy
Mix the ingredients in a large mixing bowl, you will want the dough to be pretty dry. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Drop the dough blob on the floor (clean/sweep first), then with a wine bottle you roll out the dough to .25″ thick. I went to Michael’s and bought a dog bone cookie cutter, but you can use a cup at the house to make cookie shapes. Next… use the cookie cutter. Peel back the excess dough and place the biscuits on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Put it in the oven for 20-30 minutes (depending on how hard you like your dog biscuits). Then once they cool down you can shove them down your dogs throat. Let me know what your pooch thinks of them, my son likes them, and he doesn’t care for much. This batch makes approximately 70 biscuits. Photos to come, now crack the wine and enjoy.

Cameron had his first soccer game today, actually it’s tomorrow as the girls Softball Team had the same field scheduled. Either way, I was still able to snap this awesome photo of my boy. Too bad I forgot to have him untuck his shirt. It’s all good though. What a cool kid!
